The RAD is the Reich Labor Service, a major organization established by Nazi Germany that dealt with unemployment in the German economy. The indoctrinated and militarized the work force. It was the official state labor service. Their symbol was the coffee bean. during the War, they supplied front line troops with food and ammunition and also worked as anti-aircraft units and flak duties. Several RAD units were sent to the Eastern Front as part of the military. Losses at the front, where the RAD was, were in the hundreds. This is a basic M35 helmet in dark green paint, about 50-70% of which is still intact. Both decals show some wear. Right side is basically complete, left side eagle with swastika is about 70% complete. Original helmet still has the leather liner and chin strap, leather has some scuffing and soiling.
