Description
Large and heavy Maya bowl from Mexico, dating to 300-900 A.D. The central design shows a bird in flight and upper interior rim is decorated with 4 repeating design elements. There are two ancient drilled holes in the upper rim, which are remains of an ancient repair.
Demensions: 13-18" in diameter x 4-1/8" in height.
Provenance: Ex. Collection of the Actor Vincent Price & his wife Mary Grant Price. Bought from their daughter Victoria in 2007, who received this item by descent. Additionally, the old collection label on back indicates this was from the original L.A. Primus-Stewart Galleries, which would date the piece at that gallery between 1961 and 1963.
