The Mercedes-Benz R 107 is a two-seat roadster with optionally available rear auxiliary seats. The SL-107 series, which arrived on the market as successor to the so-called ‘Pagoda’ (W 113 series) in 1971, established with its wideband H4 headlights and large fluted rear lights, a new design line at Mercedes-Benz. A slight wedge shape pointed towards improved aerodynamics. The responsible designer of this series was again Friedrich Geiger, who had already designed the timeless creations of the 300 SL (including Roadster) and the Mercedes-Benz 500K. The appearance of the R107 is formative for the Mercedes-Benz design in the 70s.
