As part of a series of portraits of scientist the abstracted portrait of Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz‘ (1646-1716)

The work is part of a series of portraits of scientists, which Matthias Mansen created in 1999. Depicted is in a heavily abstracted manner, to some extent reminiscent of the woodcut technique of Käthe Kollwitz, Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz (1646-1716). Despite heavy abstraction through the reduction to areas of black and white and the limited depiction of face and hands, the facial features of the German polymath and philosopher are still distinguishable.

Condition:

The woodcut is in very good condition. The sheet is mounted in two points reversible on a support cardboard on the reverse and framed. The image dimensions are 83 x 50 cm, the sheet measures 106 x 79 cm and the frame is 112.5 x 85 cm in size.
