Carl Auböck Werkstätte
Carl Auböck (1900 – 1957) learnt the basics of bronze work and chiselling early in the family business, before continuing his studies at the academy in Vienna in 1917. From 1919 to 1921 he was a student of Johannes Itten at the Bauhaus in Weimar. In 1926 he took over his parents company. His son, also called Carl Auböck (1924 – 1993) studied first architecture before turning to the near-unknown field of Industrial Design. By the End of the 1940s he started to work for the Workshop of his Father. His designs became internationally very successful. The workshop still exists under Carl Auböck Senior’s daughter-in-law who produced furthermore for Hermès and Pierre Cardin.
