Luigi Caccia Dominioni (b. 1913)
From 1931, the native Milan studied architecture at local Polytechnic. After graduating he opened an architectural studio in collaboration with Livio and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni, in 1936. In 1943 he emigrated to Switzerland, and after its return the reestablishment the architectural studio in conjunction with Castiglioni and one year later with Porro and the Brizzi brothers. From 1947, furniture designs for Azucena originated. In the course of rapid economic growth, and the beginning social change in post-war a productive basement accrues in Milan, on which a variety of architectural experiments can be realized. The multifaceted work of the architect Luigi Caccia Dominioni is an example of this development. He realized his ideas in the fields of architecture and industrial design, and thereby he influenced significantly the Italian domestic culture of the mid-century. (tm)
