Description
Pre-Columbia, Costa Rica, Guanacaste - Nicoya, ca. 1 to 500 CE. Gorgeous jade celt axe god carved from opaque blue-green jade. Rounded blade below a snarling toothy figure showing avian, human and feline characteristics with distinct Olmecoid influence - certainly a result of trade between the two regions. Drilled suspension hole runs lateral behind head. A lovely example! Size: 2" W x 4" H (5.1 cm x 10.2 cm)
