Description
A selection of flatware to include a silver tablespoon with initialled terminal, possibly George III, indistinctly marked including partial maker's mark possibly John Langlands I & John Robertson I, Newcastle, length measures 9 inches (22 cm). Together with various George IV and later silver spoons including a pair of Fiddle pattern tablespoons with initialled terminals, hallmarked John, Henry & Charles Lias, London 1825, four Fiddle pattern teaspoons with monogrammed terminals, hallmarked William Rawlings Sobey, Exeter 1850/51, a pair of Fiddle pattern dessert spoons and three Fiddle pattern teaspoons, all initialled 'B' to the terminal, hallmarked Samuel Hayne & Dudley Cater, London 1885/56, a 1960's set of eight silver teaspoons, each with thistle motif to the pierced terminal, Edinburgh 1962, two silver souvenir spoons, pair of silver sugar tongs, etc. Gross weighable silver 20.1 ozt (625.93 grams).
Condition
In varied condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Hallmarks worn and rubbed to the Newcastle example, date letter not present, initialled with a 'H' to the terminal. Exeter teaspoons monogrammed with 'MW'. Some heavier tarnishing to the interior and exterior bowls of the London dessert spoons and teaspoons. One spoon marked 925. Hallmarks clear and legible with some minor rubbing, apart from the Newcastle example which is indistinctly marked including partial maker's mark possibly John Langlands I & John Robertson I, no date letter present.
