Description
After John James Audubon (American, 1785-1851), "Brown Pelican", no. 51, pl. CCLI, from the Birds of America (1826-1838), hand-colored aquatint engraving by Robert Havell, verso watermarked "J Whatman/Turkey Mill/1835", sheet 38" x 25-3/4". Glazed, matted and framed.
Condition
There is a minute loss to the lower right corner, and a tiny tear to one edge - none are visible when framed. Light creasing is present to the lower center near bird identification and to the upper left margin. Light toning and specks of foxing are scattered throughout. In overall good condition. Print retains excellent clarity of colors. Condition issues are minimal and are as to be expected with age and medium.
