This Mercedes-Benz SL 500 Roadster Convertible from 1997 is a Japanese version, which was produced in the Bremen Mercedes-Benz factory and shipped on the 15.09.1997. The vehicle has a Japanese deregistration form and export certificate, as well as a safety certificate for the approval of a vehicle or motor vehicle trailer from the Bremen central customs office as well as vehicle data from Daimler.

Mercedes-Benz SL / R129

The Mercedes-Benz series R129 was the successor of the legendary R 107 (known amongst other things from the US television series Dallas) and was built between 1989 and 2001. Technically, it was greatly reworked compared to its predecessor. They placed greater emphasis on safety. In this respect, an automatic roll bar was used for the first time. In the case of a rollover, it would be deployed within 0.3 seconds and protected the occupants. Of the SL-Edition, merely 708 units were made, in which only c. 300 units of the 320SL were built.

Numerous special models, like for example the „Special Edition“, „Mille Migla“ or the „Final Edition“, but also various special series for the British, American and Japanese markets. The Japanese version of the Mercedes-Benz SL 500 Roadster Convertible came on the market in 1998 with only 67 units, under the model designation „designo MB Japan“.
