Description
Antonio Beato (after 1832  1906), also known as Antoine Beato, was a British and Italian photographer. He is noted for his genre works, portraits, views of the architecture and landscapes of Egypt and the other locations in the Mediterranean region. He was the younger brother of photographer Felice Beato (1832 - 1909), with whom he sometimes worked. This is an early albumen print from about 1870, showing a partially reconstructed/excavated Egyptian building. The details are sharp and intriguing. It is signed on the glass negative, "A. Beato" and mounted on heavy card stock, as was customary for photos of that era. This view into the past is collectible, and when framed it will be a sophisticated addition to your home or office. The print size is 10.25" x 15", the mount is 10.5" x 16" Both are in good condition. The card stock has cut, rounded corners.
