This view of a pond and the houses beyond is painted in a primitive version of the Hudson River school of painters. On the left shore there is a small figure of a man who appears to be painting at an easel. Near him is another person in a small boat. The painting in signed with the initials B.C. and the date 1903. Oil on board, 12" x 18.75". Original ornate frame painted gold measures 15.5" x 22.5". The painting has been professionally cleaned and re-varnished. The frame shows age but is overall in good condition.
