JONATHAN BAYARD
(1738 - 1807) Revolutionary politician and soldier and speaker of the of the Pennsylvania General Assembly. When regiments were raised for the defense of Philadelphia in 1775, Bayard became Colonel of the second regiment. They fought at the Battles of Brandywine, Germantown, and Princeton. Partly-printed war-date D.S., 1p. 8vo., Philadelphia, Mar. 21, 1777, an order that wages be paid to William Clark, a member of the General Assembly.
