Josef Carl Klinkosch
In 1782, Josef Klinkosch joined a silversmiths as apprentice, which he eventually took over in 1802. In 1815, his son Carl took over the business, which already in 1821 employed 18 assistants and in 1831 even 30 members of staff. The merger with the locksmith Stefan Mayerhofer made it possible to carry out plating works and from 1831 onwards, the company operated as Mayerhofer & Klinkosch. The growth of the company lasted and in 1840 80 persons were employed. In 1851 Josef Carl Klinkosch took over the technical management. In favor of the production of Chinese silver ware, plaqué production was discontinued. In 1858 a large steel mill was bought by Krupp. Stefan Mayerhofer retired from commercial management in 1869. The sons of Josef Carl Klinkosch took over the management of the enterprise in 1885. (nlu)
