An original Partially-Printed yet uncompleted Deed Form for the sale of property confiscated by the State of Massachusetts at the end of the Revolutionary War from “the Estate of Sir William Pepperell, now of London, which escheated, and accrued to said Commonwealth.” This rare original Document was to be used by a committee of the State appointed to sell off the property of the famous Loyalist. Deed measures approximately 7.5” x 12” on crisp handmade laid period paper with watermark. The first we have seen and offered. Very Rare.
Sir William Pepperell (1746-1816) was the grandson of the famed "Hero of Louisburg" during the French and Indian Wars. He was one of the wealthiest men in New England but a strong supporter of the Crown during the Revolutionary War. He moved to England with his family during the American Revolutionary War, and his property was confiscated by the government for his Loyalist activities
