Description
A fantastic large Egyptian faience ushabti with large inscription, Late Period, c. 664 – 332 BC, depicted mummiform, standing on integral base, wearing tripartite headdress with false beard. Arms folded at chest, hands grasping a pick and hoe, bag on left shoulder, eight horizontal lines of Hieroglyphic text down front of legs, last line continuing onto the vertical plinth at back. H: 7 7/8 in (20cm). Attractive features and overall style, glaze now a greenish brown beneath mineral deposits. A large and impressive example! Ex collection of Prof. Alan Pasch, Maryland.
