12mo (126x72 mm), contemporary full vellum binding, with gilt coat of arms and blind stamped fillets at boards, handwritten title at flat spine, traces of removed book-laces; pp. [12], 364, [24], [1] folding plate.
Engraved title-page of Alexander the Great riding roughshod over a fallen enemy, a woodcut medallion portrait of Alexander, an engraved folding map showing the expedition of Alexander, and a full-page plate of the Temple of Jupiter [p. 81]. Head- and tail-pieces; initials.

Curtius Rufus (1st century) was a Roman historian and professional magistrate of senatorial rank mentioned by Tacitus and Pliny the Younger for life events occurring during the reigns of the emperors Tiberius and Claudius.
Provenance: Ownership bookplate label with coat of arms, glued to the front paste-down (Ex libris Georges Montandon).
Alexis George Montandon (Cortaillod, April 19, 1879 - Clamart, August 30, 1944) was a French anthropologist of Swiss origin.
