Hand blown and shaped/cut clear crystal glass Occupational beer stein, likely belonging to a farmer. Pewter lid, encasing a hand painted porcelain plaque. A feast scene with dancing peasant figures, captioned in Gothic German script. Also inscribed with the name of the original owner - STEPHAN HERBERT, also in Gothic script. Known as an Occupational beer stein, gifted to the owner based on their profession or occupation, displayed on the porcelain plaque. Can contain 1/2 liter of liquid, as stamped underneath the handle. Note the unevenness in the shape - a characteristic of early beer steins. German, 19th century.
