Description
Trophy from the 1916 Indoor 50-Yard Low Hurdle. It is for a record set by Jo G. Loomis of the Chicago A. A. (Amateur Athletic) - 5 2/5 seconds. Mr. Loomis hods quite a few athletics records according to Spalding's Official Athletic Almanac. Sterling Silver on Bronze/Copper, in the traditional patented technique by Heintz Art Metal (1906-1930). An athlete jumping over a hurdle on one side, information on the trophy and it's bearer on the other. All in a charcteristic Arts-and-Crafts period manner. Marked on underside with the Heintz Art Metal Shop Mark - HAMS in a diamond, STERLING ON BRONZE, PAT. AUG. 27, '12 and with the model number 6546. Gold-plated inside. Circa 1916.
