Condition

Rare original edition. In this work Monsignor Stagni, 1760-1806, canon of the Metropolitana of Udine, answers polemically to the theories of the enlightened, mentioning Voltaire, Helvetius, d' Alembert and Diderot and showing the close relationship between the idea of "free philosophy "and the revolutionary policy that finds its culmination in Robespierre and Napoleon. The author's name is present in the Editor's note, on page 5. For this work, where Monsignor Stagni refused the philosophical and republican code, he was so honored with a praise from Pope Gregory XVI.Nice specimen uncut.
