Lovely pair of dolls, both attributed to Bru, and also with the so-called "Mona Lisa" smiling faces. One doll with extremely exaggerated smile, incised on the back of the head "F" and also on the top of the forehead "DEPOSE". Lovely pale blue inset glass eyes, pierced ears, and head mounted to separate bisque shoulder plate. She is on an all leather body with gusset joints at the elbow and individually stitched fingers. The legs are relatively straight with just a slight bend behind the knee. She has her original dark blonde mohair wig with long curls and wrap-around braids over cork pate. The original turquoise and cream silk dress has lovely ecru lace trim with long train in back. Her sister is also Bru with smiling face but slightly more serene than the other. She is incised on the back of the head "E" and also with the same marking on left shoulder edge. She, too, has light blue inset eyes, pierced ears with dangling earrings, and a similar but slight different original costume with a little more blue in front. She wears a blue enameled watch while her sister has an antique Loirgnette. Both dolls have black leather flat shoes. Some obvious slight wear to silk costumes. Wigs have not been removed and dolls have not been undressed for obvious reasons! Shoulder plates and bisque heads have been inspected closely and appear to be free of any damage. (Excellent).
