Description
A Classic Central Asian embroidery consisting of silk embroidery on a purple silk ground. These embroideries were made to be decorative hangings in their homes and occasionally made as dowry offerings upon the betrothal of a young woman. There is evidence textiles like this were also trade items, encouraged by the western marketplace, even at the time it was made in the early 20th century.There is minor damage to the purple silk ground (see detail images) but otherwise, good condition. SIZE - 6'2" x 7'6"
