An exhaustive list of thousands of officers who served in the Navy and Marines over the years. Lists officers who served in the Mexican-American War, including, for example, Raphael Semmes, who resigned on February 15, 1861, at the outbreak of the Civil War to eventually become commander of the raider CSS Alabama. In the list of congressional awards is listed one for the entire Navy for its performance at Veracruz (p. 711). Also includes lists of Naval Academy graduates and of all ships that served. An astonishing compilation that belongs in every naval and Mexican-American War collection.
