A Very Rare and Magnificent Pair of Hugo Lonitz Majolica Models of Saker Falcons c.1880 Only known examples.Each beautifully molded and naturalistically coloured as a life size male and female falcons perched upon a rocky ground.20” and 18 1/2”. These stunning Majolica models of life size hawks represent the greatest quality of the short lived manufacturers Hugo Lonitz of Neuhaldensleben, Germany. There is only one other piece of Lonitz Majolica that compares to the elegance and stature of this wonderful pair of birds which is a life size hawk ( h.23”) was sold at Christies, New York 22 November 2011 lot 248 $56,250.
