Description
The most elaborate of National's tricones is the Style 4, with its intricate hand-engraved chrysanthemum motif. Widely recognized as National's top of the line guitar, the 1930s Style 4 was extremely popular in its day and has remained so for its eye-catching appearance and powerful volume. It is not surprising that this remarkable instrument would have been a favorite of the virtuoso of the metal-bodied guitar, Johnny Winter. Johnny is pictured holding this guitar on his 1977 album "Nothin' But the Blues." National Style 4 Tricone Resonator Guitar circa 1930s. Hollow, nickle-plated brass body, mahogany neck, and hand-engraved Chrysanthemum finish. "WINTER" stenciled on side of case. Serial No. 5057.
