This copyright contract, dated February 2nd 1954, is for the composition "Blossom," co-composed by Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn. This contract bears not only the signatures of Strayhorn and Ellington, but also of Duke's sister, Ruth (then Ruth James), who was President of Tempo Music, and that of Mildred Dixon, a long-time mistress of Duke's, bearing witness. It measures 16" x 8.5".
