Description
Ancient Rome, ca. 3rd to 4th century CE. A fabulous free-blown pilgrim flask of beautiful green hues with areas of silvery and rainbow iridescence. The vessel boasts a classic form comprised of a lentoid body with nice pinches below the neck, an elegant cylindrical neck cinched at its base, and a flat, infolded disk rim, and the body. Subtle ribbing to the neck and body adds to the beauty of this piece. A similar example sold at Christie's for $3500 (Lot 50, Sale 2755, 13 December 2013, New York) Size: 3.625" W x 5.5" H (9.2 cm x 14 cm)
