Description
Lithograph printed and issued by the Mourlot printing house under Braque's direction. 25.5 x 21.5 in, framed.
Georges Braque (1882-1963) is considered one of the fathers of Modern art. He was a highly successful French artist most closely associated with Cubism and Fauvism. As a close associate of Picasso, they painted together extensively, and their Cubist works are very similar in terms of formal elements, structure and quality. Braque also experimented with collage and developed the papier colle technique, in which paper is glued, taped or otherwise placed onto a flat surface. He was also close friends with Cubist painter Juan Gris, and exhibited with both Gris and Picasso. His work is highly sought after by both collectors and museums.
