Filip Leu
Within tattoo's most famous family, the Leu Family Iron Studio in Switzerland, stands second-generation phenom Filip Leu. Known for his strength in freehand tattooing and hand-ground mortar and pestle dyes, Filip is sought-after worldwide. Through his nomadic upbringing, Leu began tattooing under the instruction of his father, Felix, at the ripe age of 16. He later learned from artists in many parts of the world including India, Japan, North Africa, and beyond. Leu completed his travel with a year's stay at Ed Hardy's Realistic Tattoo Studio and a three-week visit with Paul Rogers in Florida where he learned much about tattoo machine construction. Though his father closely instructed him, Filip ventured onward to adopt his own distinctive style, which has earned him celebrity status in the tattoo world. Leu is an admirer of traditional Japanese tattoos and prefers to do large body suits in what he calls his "Euro-American-Japanese" style.
