Wakako
Both a tattoo artist and painter, Tokyo-born Wakako is lauded for her ability to delicately blend Japanese traditional art with elements of modern style and sophistication. Despite a deep sense of dedication to the art of tattoo, she has also developed her skills and artistic expression in the mediums of watercolor and acrylic painting. Despite her exploration of alternate avenues of expression, her passion remains deeply rooted in the art and tradition of Japanese tattoo. Apprenticing for and working alongside such celebrated tattoo artists as Max Kilbourne, Horitoshi, Juni, Bill Salmon, and Pili Mo'o, Wakako's highly-developed style was in-demand as she was one of the two female Japanese tattooists working in the U.S. She has worked in studios in multiple states and countries, but has been a regular artist at World Famous Club Tattoo in Las Vegas since 2012. Despite her accomplishments, she continues to value what originally pushed her to tattoo: the simple yet intriguing interactions that occur through her contact with fellow artists and clients.
