Neck and base of the body with impressed scepter mark, base with under glaze blue beehive mark
Subsequently added the marks of Viennese Porcelain Manufacture on lid and base
Stand inscribed (as titles for the portraits) ‘Carnation’ and ‘Lydia’, the portraits signed “Wagner”
Monumental body, consisting of five pieces

The body is composed of five parts shows a baluster-shaped basic form. On delicate light green Fund, the vase was decorated with floral and vegetal borders, Pearl ribbons, stylized hand beading and garlands wrap-around rich. The decor is partly backed by iridescent cartridges and wide bands. The show and the back of the vase body show two picture lockets with finely executed depictions of women.


Condition:

The vase is in good condition. A restoration can be found on the inner wall of the lid. The gold accents and the glaze are slightly rubbed in places. A burn mark can be found on the inner wall of the body. The marks of the lid and the base were subsequently added. The height measures 124.5 cm. The diameter is 38 cm.


Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Berlin (KPM)

The manufactory, founded in 1763 by Frederick the Great, based on three private companies that had tried for some time to produce porcelain in Berlin. The manufactory has been located near the Tiergarten in Berlin since 1871. It took up the production of painted porcelain tiles under the direction of Professor Alexander Kips and made a huge profit. After the destruction of the manufactory during the Second World War the Land of Berlin took over the company in 1988. Since 2006 the company is owned by the private banker Jörg Woltmann.


Saxon Porzellan-Manufaktur Dresden

The Saxony Porcelain Factory Carl Thieme, Potschappel started its production in 1872. From the being, they sold white porcelain to the Dresden House painters, but also exported throughout Europe. In the manufactory they not only fabricated self, rather purchased white porcelains were painted and sold here. The flower pattern-modeller Carl August Kuntzsch had contribution to the success of the manufactory (1855-1920). With the ‘lush flower covering’, he created a significant style characteristic of Dresden porcelain. The company produces still today ornamental and luxury porcelain, primarily for the Russian, Arabic, and Asian region. (bde)
