Description
A FINE UNIDENTIFIED BRONZE FRAME STEAM VEHICLE ENGINE with brass jacketed twin cylinders, each of approximately 2" bore x 4" stroke, cylinder condensate valves, side-mounted valve chests, bronze frame-incorporated slipper design crosshead guides, heavy yoke design crossheads each with twin adjustable brass bearings, tapered connecting rods each with adjustable brass crankshaft end. Other fine details include adjustable brass cylinder and valve chest packing glands, each with flat spring brass stops, center-mounted 5" diameter sprocket for chain drive, the crankshaft of 1 1/2" diameter with twin frame-incorporated adjustable main bearings. The Stephenson reversing linkage with twin sets of crankshaft eccentric-driven rods, link quadrants, and other fine details. All incorporated on a heavy cast bronze frame, designed for mounting on the side of a boiler, all in what appears to be "fresh out of the Maine barn" condition. Dimensions: overall length – 21"; overall width over cylinders – 14"; width over shaft – 14 1/2". Estimated weight – 75 lbs. This engine has not been cleaned or polished in any way and is truly a fine work of art representing steam technology, circa 1900-1905. (See photos).
