**A MAIL SHIRT, PROBABLY OTTOMAN TURKISH 17TH/18TH CENTURY
of large proportions, formed of riveted rings of circular-and oval-section wire, with a short upstanding collar stiffened with thongs and divided at the front, a pair of short sleeves, and short undivided skirt (small holes, some working repairs)

The repairs and the leather stiffening on the collar would suggest that this was used in Africa in the late 19th Century
