A Silver Snoopy award lapel pin which was flown to the moon aboard Apollo 11. It comes complete with the award certificate (cut out to fit into a photo album), a presentation letter bearing an autopen signature of Apollo 11 astronaut Michael Collins, two photos of the presentation ceremony and a photocopy of the Grumman documentation describing the act on LM-8 for which the Silver Snoopy was being awarded.The early Silver Snoopy awards hardly ever specifically mentioned which mission on which they were flown, however, there are several factors that point to this Silver Snoopy being flown on Apollo 11. First, the presentation letter is signed by Michael Collins which points to Apollo 11. The letter is also signed by Gordon Cooper who just happened to be an astronaut available at the time to do the presentation ceremony. Second, the date awarded, January 20, 1970, would be near enough to the Apollo 11 mission to assume that there were still pins available for presentation from that mission. And third, the engraving on the back of the Silver Snoopy matches those which are believed to have flown on Apollo 11.The documentation for this award was placed in a slightly sticky photo album for preservation, and I will leave it to the winner of this item to remove them if they wish. The photos seem to come up fine if done slowly.
