Gino D'Achille, pencil of ship at sea done for the Daily Mirror newspaper, circa 1970, 14"x21". Gino D'Achille was a fulltime commercial artist when, in 1964, he was headhunted to illustrate David Kossof's Bible Stories, an extremely popular book which established his credentials as a top illustrator in England. He first came to the attention of American collectors with his paintings for the John Carter of Mars series by Edgar Rice Burroughs, published by Ballantine Books in 1973. Gino has created over 100 cover paintings for science-fiction titles published by Daw Books, Ace, Ballantine and various other publishers. He is also well known for his series of Flashman cover paintings and for his paintings for western adventure stories and war stories, as well as romance novels and children's books.
