Description
Egypt, Late Period, XXXth Dynasty, ca. 380-343 BCE. An ancient faience ushabti, the mummiform figurine wears a tripartite wig and a beard, his crossed hands which protrude from his wrappings hold a hoe and seed bag. 4-7/8"H (12.2 cm).
The Hieroglyphic inscription reads, "Illuminate the Osiris, Sat-Khonsu (daughter of Khonsu), whom ... of Neith made. O ushabtis, if (the Osiris) is counted... ...Look, here I am, each of you will say, every time."
Provenance: Formerly in the M. Carvin collection, (Vienna & New York), acquired prior to 1970.
