Egypt, New Kingdom, 19th/20th Dynasty, 1292-1070 BCE. Unusual standing wood figure of the goddess Hathor wearing a large thick wig, depicted with bovine ears and with the body in the shape of an Isis Girdle. Hathor was the goddess of love, music, beauty, motherhood and joy. 5-1/4"H not including stand.
Provenance: Found in North Lisht and deaccessed from the Metropolitan Museum in the 1950s. Met Accession number: 22.1.675.
