The LeCoutre men's watch is 14k solid gold, 35mm in dia. self-winding 17 jewel unadjusted movement cal 497. The case is a 2-piece snap together type, with light to moderate wear in good condition. The dial is original fresh silvered 2-tone brushed finish, with evenly coated light brown toning. Hands are original.m George Whittell Jr. was born into a wealthy San Francisco family in 1881. He had a zest for life, and had numerous journeys, affairs, and adventures. In the 1922, he acquired the substantial family fortune, roughly $40 million. In the 1930's, he purchased some 40,000 acres on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe, including 20 miles of shoreline. In 1939 he completed the famous Thunderbird Lodge, equiped with the fabulous "Thunderbird" yacht. He gradually went from becoming a public figure to somewhat of a recluse later in life. He died in 1969, leaving a legacy of public lands and bequests to animal rights organizations. - HKA#66127
