Baur was an extremely talented sculptor based in New York –in a studio in Washington Square-in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. One of his most popular sculptures, The Buffalo Hunt was originally commissioned for the Philadelphia Centennial of 1876 and was widely exhibited thereafter.
