With yellow ochre painted hide and panel of beadwork, the main field white with red, black and yellow geometric motifs, the hide fringe wrapped with red dyed quillwork

Provenance: Collected by John Wyer and Martha Summerhayes during the last quarter of the 19th century. The Frederic Remington Museum acquired the collection from Helen Shahda, Johnstown, NY 1972.

The Native American items in the auction were collected bu John Wyer and Martha Summerhayes during the last quarter of the 19th century. Her book, "Vanished Arizona" was written as a reminiscence of her experience traveling in the west with her husband. The Summerhayes traveled to Arizona with other Eighth Infantry officers and their families in the summer of 1874. They continued to travel throughout the Midwest over the next quarter century.
