Description
San Pedro Culture, South Coast Peru, ca. 500-300 BCE. Early polychrome pottery stirrup vessel depicting a fisherman resting on a net buoyed by gourd vessels as a flotation device. His arms are red brown with white fingernails, his face is a white mask accented by light brown eyes with black pupils. His headdress is a net type in red brown with white bands, his hair is black and the gourds are red brown against a sand-colored background. A wonderful early stirrup in vivid colors! 7-1/2”L x 7”H.

Provenance: Ex-Westermann Collection, Germany.
