A nearly life-size SOLID marble sculpture, carved in the vein of or by master sculptor Frederick Thrupp. It was in the same family for over 45 years, so whether by the artist or not is unknown. It is massive, standing an impressive 55" in height, with a weight of 400+ pounds [possibly 450+ . . .]. A lovely Grecian/ Neo-classical rendition of a lovely maiden, possibly in the likeness of the Goddess Athena, with a jar propped on shoulder. The level of detail is a sight to behold. Please focus on the drape of her tunic, which is quite lifelike. She is not perfect. Missing a finger on one hand, a small corner loss to the pedestal she is draped against, and several other scrapes/areas of wear. VERY heavy sculpture so would need multiple hands to load off of the premises. It weighs north of 400 pounds, so a rarity, especially considering it was carved from a single slab.

Considering age and scale, an impressive sculpture, with several areas with small losses and scuffs/wear. There is an old repair to both feet, but cleanly remedied. Carries through. It is a massive, fantastically-realized sculpt, regardless. lawn-sized sculpt, so might have further hidden issues . Please refer to the photos for a condition report.
