Description
Jewish religious studies as a child; violin. From 1891 he studied mathematics. After failing to gain admission to the ETH in Zurich, he graduated in mathematics and physics in 1900. After two temporary teaching posts, he joined the trademark office in Bern. In 1905, he obtained a doctorate from the University of Zurich. In 1909, he was professor of physics at the University of Zurich and in 1911 at the University of Prague. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1921. He was offered professorships at the world's most prestigious universities and decided to work at Princetone, where, after many trips, he would end his life.Signed printed photograph (a fine newspaper clipping) applied to cardboard in-16, to Paul Langer.
