She studied piano with Rudolf Ganz and Fraancisco de Lacerda. She was the elder sister of Emile and André-Paul, both violinists, and grew up in an affluent environment that encouraged her musical aspirations. In 1912 she became a piano teacher at the Lausanne Conservatoire, where she disliked the formalism.
