Description
He married the daughter of a State Councillor of the Second Empire, which brought him into contact with the imperial family, in particular Jérôme Napoléon, whose secretary and friend he became. From 1894, he devoted himself to Napoleonic studies, becoming an undisputed specialist. In 1903, he was elected to the Académie française. Autograph letter signed and dated: rue de la Baume, 15.11.1920: "Je suis heureux de trouver en vous encore un amant de madame de Sévigné…". 2 pp. in-8.
