A JAMES II SILVER SNUFFERS STAND WITH A PAIR OF SNUFFERS
THE STAND WITH MARK OF JOHN LAUGHTON, LONDON 1685; THE SNUFFERS AND EXTINGUISHER ONLY WITH MARK TB, A CRESCENT BELOW
Details
The stand on octagonal spreading foot, with knopped stem and shaped rectangular snuffers holder, engraved with a crest, flanked by a pierced cylindrical candle socket, and a scroll handle, together with a conical extinguisher with knop finial and bracket on the back, another bracket above the candle socket, the stand fully marked on base and with maker's mark struck four times, the candle socket with lion passant and maker's mark, the snuffer and extinguisher with maker's mark only (struck twice on snuffer box and the handle)
6 3/4 in. (17.5 cm.) high overall
12 oz. 6 dwt. (383 gr.)
The crest is that of Baber or Cramer.
