Description
Foch's Chief of Staff. He was sent to Warsaw as military adviser, then appointed French high commissioner in Syria.Recalled in 1939, he had to recommend the armistice. Minister under PŽtain, he was sent to Algeria, arrested by the Gestapo, interned in Germany and released by the Americans. He was the last French general of the Second World War still alive in 1965.Signed printed photograph applied to cardboard in-16 and dated P‰ques, 1948, to Paul Langer; Autograph letter signed dated Paris, P‰ques 1948: " elle n'a qu'un dŽfaut, celui d'avoir ŽtŽ exŽcutŽe il y a plus de vingt ans É". 11 autograph letters signed, dated between 1948 and 1956 to PL; Signed printed photograph applied to cardboard in-16, dated 11.11.1918 to Paul Langer.
