Description
After assisting Lyautey in the conquest of Morocco, he commanded an army corps during the Great War, then the Dardanelles expeditionary corps, where he lost his right arm. On his return to France, he was given command of the 4th army in Champagne. He was later resident general in Morocco, high commissioner of France in Syria, then governor of Paris and member of the Conseil supŽrieur de la guerre. Autograph letter signed and dated 18.10.1916:"É mon frre est tombŽ glorieusement - sa perte n'en est pas moins cruelleÉ".; typed letter signed; card with autograph lines.
