Description
He joined the army on 01.11.1790 and fought in the Rhine army during the campaigns of 1796/97. A staunch Republican, he voted against the Empire, which meant that he was not promoted for a long time. He was sent to Constantinople to organise the Turkish army and distinguished himself against the English fleet. Appointed Major General by Napoleon, he fought in Spain. He rallied to the Empire during the Hundred Days and was wounded for the fifteenth time in his career at Waterloo. In 1819, he was appointed deputy for Aisne.Autograph letter signed dated Paris, 02.01.1825 to Baron D'Arriule, recommending the deputy's candidacy to his correspondent: "É mon excellent et respectable ami, Mr Alexandre de Lameth. C'est un vŽtŽran de la libertŽ et de l'honneurÉ". 1 p. In-8.
