3-pc hunter green wool broadcloth riding habit w/ flat black silk covered CF & cuff button closures, short back peplum tabs row of decorative buttons, matching skirt w/ button closures, matching breeches w/ button fly & stirrup, 1880, B 30”, L 16”, breeches W 22”, inseam 28”, L 40”, skirt W 24”, L 38”-48”, (light underarm discoloration, light wear, minor discoloration & shatter at collar, few tiny holes and up to 1” snacks, heavy wear w/ 0.75” & 6” tears at seat of breeches, elastic foot stirrups shot, light discoloration to skirt hem) jacket & skirt good, pants fair. Deaccessioned by the Valentine Museum. Provenance: Worn by Mrs. David Wallerstein (née May Wechsler, 1866-1942). The wearer was born in New York, NY. She married David Wallerstein (1865-1931) of Richmond in New York in 1891, where the couple remained until at least 1900. The federal census lists the wearer's residence in Richmond, VA from 1910.
